Finding the perfect band for your wedding day can sometimes seem a little daunting. Of course, you want everyone to love the music, but how do you find a band that really knows how to throw a party? Great atmosphere starts with the finest music and no matter what age you are, 1950’s Rock and Roll is sure to pack the dance floor. The Bluejays will always bring that “Wow Factor” to any wedding reception and guarantee to bring the party to life!
Whether you have seen us at an event, a friend’s wedding or just enjoyed some of our videos online, we’re always happy to talk you through all the options when it comes to creating the perfect playlist for your big day.
DJ OR LIVE WEDDING BAND?
We often get asked ‘“We really want live music at our wedding, but will we still have to book a DJ?’. The answer is, of course, ‘It’s entirely up to you!’. We’re very happy to provide a tailored playlist with songs running through our PA system until midnight. But, if you’re planning on partying much later, a DJ might just be what you’re after to keep the party pumping till the wee small hours. We provide music in between sets as standard and can easily arrange more material on request in advance. We don’t often get asked to play during dinner as rock and roll music sometimes steals the show, but never say never!
SET LENGTHS
We usually like to break our sets down into 2 x 45 mins. Classic rock and roll songs tend to average out at around two minutes long . We’ve found, over years of playing countless weddings, that our specific set lengths keep guests on the dance floor for the whole time we play, which we love! We can always play for longer though, so just drop us a line and let us take care of everything. A more comprehensive list of our repertoire can be found here. We’re proud to be responsible for your guests complaining of ‘sore feet from too much dancing!’
YOUR FIRST DANCE
The first dance is one of the most magical moments of any wedding day. You have exchanged your vows, steadied your nerves after those emotional speeches and feasted your way through the afternoon. Now it’s time to stare into the eyes of the one you love and become lost in the music. Whether it’s Elvis Presley’s ‘Love me Tender’, Buddy Holly’s ‘True Love Ways’ or even ‘Great Balls of Fire’, your first dance is yours to celebrate however you want. It’s an extra special moment and we’re happy to learn any 50’s/60’s song that makes your moment that little bit more magical. Alternatively, we can always start playing right after your first dance finishes, if you’d prefer. We’ll play your song through our own PA for a seamless transition into our first set.
HOW FAR CAN YOU TRAVEL?
The Bluejays will travel the world to play at your wedding! We have played private events from Russia to Spain, Miami to Margate! Our travel fees will be incorporated into our overall quote. The band is predominantly based in London and international pricing is worked out from Gatwick or Heathrow airport. We try and bring as few vehicles as possible to any event, not least of all to save the environment!
BUDGET
If you’re in any doubt about the cost of hiring the Bluejays, please get in touch, we’re very friendly. We can cater for most budgets, from our full ‘eight piece’ Rock and Roll Extravaganza with brass section, double bass, keys, guitars, female and male lead vocalists to a one man acoustic experience for more intimate settings. In addition to any of our classic band lineups, we can also provide a fantastic female dance duo in 50’s outfits to teach your wedding guests to swing, jive and bop. It’s a great way to get everyone feeling confident on the dance floor and can act as a great ice breaker for larger wedding parties. The girls will then boogie away with your guests, filling the floor with energy and 50’s style.
THEMED WEDDINGS
We play themed weddings of all kinds. Recreating the ‘Under the Sea Enchantment Ball’ from Back to the Future is one of our favourites. The illusion is completed with the Penguins' ‘Earth Angel’ and Chuck Berry’s ‘Johnny B Goode’. We’re always happy to incorporate your visions for the day!

The Bluejays are the perfect band to celebrate your Silver, Ruby, Gold or even Diamond wedding anniversary. We’re privileged to have performed for couples of all ages.
